Nothing second-rate about this business, just another circular enterprise gathering up old furniture and moving it along; well used perhaps with scars and paint marks, still good for many more years of sitting and especially useful for café and restaurant projects where multiples are needed.

Based in Sheffield Second Sitting travel the country to collect and redistribute; this beautiful stack of stools for example came from a school where they had been in continuous use in the art department since doors opened in 1976, en route now to an equally happy new home.

Speaking of beautiful, I like the way this business approaches communication; they don’t waste time with an elaborate website and a lot of irrelevant text, just the bare bones and quick redirection to instagram @secondsitting.uk: also quite spare with great photos of latest stock and all the info you need to buy.

A good model for circular commerce – simple, upbeat, useful, lovely stuff making a strong case for not-new.
